VeCoTek® Mask

VeCoTek technology can be used on different types of surfaces. VeCoTek coating can easily be applied on mask surface without any processing difficulties. This coating has antiviral and antimicrobial effect. Our electron microscopic investigations show that the application of VeCoTek on the mask surface doesn’t change the textile micro structure

VeCoTek® Mask

VecoTek was applied on one side of mask using spraying technique.

The Bacterial Filtration and antimicrobial efficiency of the coated medical mask were tested.

Bacterial Filtration efficiency test (BFE) was performed according to TS EN 14683 with modifications. Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 strain was used with 1.7-2.7X103 density in study. Before the bacteria filtration efficiency was measured, the entire test set-up and test material were sterilized under UV light.

In daily conditions and standard tests, the breath rate is determined as 28.3 L / min. In normal human respiratory function, there are inspiration periods lasting about 2-3 seconds and then expiration periods lasting 6-8 seconds. We used a continuous unidirectional air flow of 29.4 L / min in the experimental setup . The test results, normal mask BFE efficiency was 98% while coated mask samples were 100%.

The Antimicrobial activity of the VeCoTek coated masks was determined by ASTM E2149 standart test method under dynamic contact conditions. Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538) and Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922) were grown in liquid culture and the concentration of the test microorganism was standardized as 1.5×105 cfu/ml and 1.6×105 cfu/ml respectively.

The VeCoTek coated masks showed 99.99% BFE.
